1 week old!

So today we went back to the doctor to see our little man's progress.  Last week when we went in Tyler's weight had dropped to 9 lbs 3 oz, which the dr. said was normal and he was doing fine.  Today, his weight was back up to 9 lbs 11 oz, almost back to his birthweight!  His circumcision is now healed so no more goup in the diapers and his cord fell off so he can finally have a normal bath.

Today, mom and dad went home so me and Chris are on our own as new parents.  Thank goodness for wonderful parents who continue to take care of us!  My mom is so amazing, she literally cleaned my house inside and out, did the grocery shopping, cooked our meals, took over Tyler so I could sleep and so much more!  She is such a wonderful example to me and I am so grateful for her and don't know how we would have survived without her.

Adjusting to life as a new mom is going great.  I have such a wonderful husband who is such a help and motivation to me.  He is so in love with Tyler and already such a great dad.  I feel so blessed to have this new bundle of joy in our lives and that he is healthy and strong.

THE BIG DAY

Well the day had finally come. We went in on Sunday the 12th of June. We thought that we were going to be coming home with a baby that night or at least in the next couple of days. Well much to our not wanting we went home empty handed. It was kind of really sad because we thought this was the time. Well all we got were contractions that were a little stronger then before. The next day Mel woke up at 7 in the morning have contractions. They were feeling like the ones that she had been having before hand so see wanted to see if they would continue. After walking around the mall, around our house and every where else we could think of we decided that she was in labor because they did not stop all day. As we headed to bed at 11:00 pm the contractions were about 7 minutes apart and were lasting about a 1 min. after being woke up at 12:30 by Mel with contractions that were stronger then the ones before. The were getting stronger and closer apart. We timed them for the next couple of hours and at 3:30 am on Tuesday they were about 3 min apart and lasting about 60 secs. We then thought that it was time to go the hospital. We got there around 3:35 and went back around 4. We then walked for about two hours before we got admitted. They had a labor room ready for us at 6:20 am Tuesday morning. This is where the day became way to long. We were admitted at 5cm which we thought was pretty good. So the routines begun walking monitoring, birth ball, monitoring, walking. We did this for about 12:30 when Mel was checked. We had progress. She was at 7.5. We thought that thing were going great. That the little man would be here in no time. Mel had been doing amazing with the contractions and dealing with the pains of each of them. We had decided that we were not going to go with an epidural for this birth. At the moment we were on top of the world. Thinking that our little son would be here in no time at all. We kept laboring and Mel was doing great with each one that got stronger so did she. We labored until 5:30pm Tuesday evening. We thought he would have had to progressed some and that we should start getting things ready for him to come. She was checked. What did you know no progress at all we were still a 7.5cm. That really kind of took the wind out of our sails. After rethinking it we decided that he will make it we just need to keep going. Some time goes by and we decide that we need to break her water so that we can progress with this thing. Her water was broken shortly after 5:30 pm. Things started to get really hard after that. Mel hung in there and just getting stronger. she labored like this until 8:30 when she was checked again. This time is was ok news but still was not what we wanted to hear. She had progressed to 8cm. this was ok cause it was progress. So we had a little air in our sales but the time had been wearing on all of us. Mel got strength from some where and we were off for the next couple of hours. These next couple of hours were the hardest parts of the labor. Exhaustion was starting to set in. My mother-in-law and I were wondering if she would have to energy to finish what was still to come. After laboring till 10:15 pm Tuesday night Mel got checked again. This came with a big surprise. She was an 8. It felt like all the laboring that we had just did was for nothing. We had hit rock bottom. Ramona started talking to us about what we need to do. There was no way that Mel was going to deliver this baby without resting before she had to push. So at 10:30pm Tuesday night. Mel got an epidural so she could get some type of rest. By 10:50 pm Tuesday night Mel was sleeping and resting. It was amazing to see what an epidural can do for the women. She then labored with the epidural for the next two hours. The little man had made it. At 12:30 Mel was fully dilated and he was getting into place. She then continued to labor down for the next two hours. She was then checked again at 3:30 am Wednesday morning it was time to push. We had been waiting for those works for this whole night. The fun then started. Mel pushed and pushed and the little guy took his time comes out. At 4:30 am things had been going not so well when Ramona said if things don't start changing this baby might have to come C-section. I don't know if it was Mel that decided they didn't want a c-section or if it was Tyler because after that conversation he dropped and by 5:57am June 15, 2011 our amazing little bundle of joy was born. He weighed 9lbs 14oz. He was 22 1/4 inches long. Everybody says he has no Cluff in him but I guess we will see.

Ultrasound

Well, me and Chris went in for the ultrasound on Tuesday to see why I am measuring so big and come to find out our little guy isn't measuring quite so little.  9 lbs 3 oz to be exact, but who's counting, oh yeah, I AM!!!  Needless to say, hearing his weight kinda scared me and I bawled the whole way home from the doctor's appointment.  The ultrasound tech and the midwife assured me that the weight was not exact and could be a pound and half off either way.  I think they said this to calm me down and give me hope, but all that did was make me realize that he could be over 10 pounds already, and I still have two weeks to go before they would induce me.  But thank goodness for a wonderful husband who is able to calm me down and a mother who was able to make me look at the bigger picture and realize that yes, this is possible.  I have another appointment on Monday with the midwife so we will see what she says about inducing if I haven't already gone into labor.  Since the beginning of the pregnancy I have had my mind set on trying to do everything as natural as possible, meaning try not to have an epidural and not being induced.  However, this news kinda has shattered that hope.  The midwife told me that inducing me would put me at higher risk of having a C-section, but I think by not being induced it will also put me at a higher risk if he gets too big.  Oh decisions, decisions!  Luckily though, the baby is strong and healthy and we got some really cute ultrasound pictures from the visit, so what more could I ask for?  Me and Chris were looking at them last night and we think that he has Chris's nose and lips.  If he had the Cluff nose you wouldn't be able to see it on the ultrasound!  Ha ha, but in one of the pictures he is sticking out is tongue, which is kinda funny because in our video we have of him he sticks out is tongue.  Big or small, he will be a cute boy and we are so excited for him to get here.  Lets just hope that it happens sooner, rather than later!
